Alarm System Sensors
Alarm systems can receive information from a wide variety of sensors, including:
Other more specialist sensors (e.g. temperature, pressure) can also be used if there is a particular need. There are also some sensors that use dual or triple technology mechanisms (infrared, ultrasonic and acoustic) to determine with a high level of accuracy if a room is occupied.
Sensors are the ‘eyes and ears’ of an alarm system and it is important that they work correctly. A quality alarm system will provide notification messages and/or emails in the event of a problem with any of the sensors. If the system has a station monitoring link, the monitoring station will also inform the designated ‘key-holder’ if there is a problem with a sensor.
