OUR SERVICES
Alpha Touch provides services across a range of categories. Additionally, we provide integration solutions that link two or more of these categories. To find out about a particular category of service, select one of the options below. For more information about our integration solutions, please refer to our Case Studies.
Relays
Much general control involves the use of simple relays. These determine the binary status (e.g. on/off, open/closed) of a whole range of systems, such as boilers, blinds, garden sprinklers, automatic gates etc. By including some control rules (see below) complex and powerful control systems can be designed and installed using just relays.
Sensors
Rather than simply toggling between binary states, sensors often provide an analogue output. As an illustration, a temperature sensor may output a signal that varies according to the temperature at its location. Generally, analogue sensors provide a graded indication of some environmental parameter and it may be necessary to define an acceptable working range, beyond which an alarm condition or other event should be triggered. When combined with relays and control rules (see below), sensors offer almost limitless control capabilities.
Control Rules
Control rules allow output triggers to be determined by the analysis of one or more relays or sensors. Suppose a computer server room has an environmental control system to protect a number of business-critical application servers. If a single temperature sensor indicates that the temperature is slightly too high, then it will be difficult to asses the risk. If there is also an indication that the air conditioning is not working and that the CPU temperature of several of the servers is also increasing, then a more complete assessment can be made and a high-priority alarm can be triggered. Control rules allow a high-confidence assessment of multiple inputs and this is a particular area of expertise for Alpha Touch.
